Engine Light Reset
How do you reset the check engine light on the 2.7L?

I haven’t driven this car all winter, about 5 months total. When I started the car the light came on, so I want to reset the light, and see if it comes back on again. It only has 28,000 miles on it, because I rarely drive it. I know in my Mustang you reset the check engine light by removing the battery cable, and then reattaching it. Is it the same for the Dodge Charger 2.7L ‘07. Thanks for your help.

yupp..or i baught a OBD 2 scanner (vehicle computer scanner).and that can reset it to..

The Actron Cp9410 Makes Diagnosis Easy

The Actron CP9410 PocketScan Plus diagnostic trouble code (DTC) reader is a helpful tool that helps in determining why the Check Engine or malfunction indicator light (MIL) has come on in On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) II equipped automobiles.  All cars, trucks or vans that were released in 1996 and later years are OBD-II compliant because this is required by federal law.  When the Check Engine light is on, you can still maneuver the car or truck but depending upon the type of situation that caused it, the worst case situation is that the engine could stall.

In reality, there is a long list of situations that could trigger the MIL or Check Engine warning light to come on.  The CP9410 scanner could prove to be a very helpful device in this situation because it allows you to retrieve the DTC that you could research on the Internet to provide you with a clue as to what is going on.  The common reason for the warning light turning on is that the engine has reached a situation where it cannot achieved the best efficiency.  The process for optimizing engine efficiency is difficult because of a variety of ever changing conditions, such as ambient air temperature, gasoline quality, road conditions, load, speed, engine temperature, and others.  The OBD is actually a computer that regularly checks the different factors and then turns on the Check Engine light if there is a sign of trouble.

Without the help of the Actron CP9410 DTC reader, you will require the services of an automotive mechanic to turn off the Check Engine light and troubleshoot the situation.  There are various possible reasons why the light is turned on and this could be as simple as a loose gas cap.  The code that is detected by the CP9410 functions as a guide that could help you in pinpointing the real issue.  If the problem is straightforward enough, this handy DTC reader can save you the money charged by an automotive mechanic.  The warning light can also be reset by this scanner.  However, you may need to get the services of a mechanic if the warning light returns because you might have a severe case of emissions.

How do you reset the check engine light in a 2000 volvo s40?

There is nothing wrong with the engine. It has been to the dealer many times and they have tryed to replace sensors and reinstall software but it doesnt help. I just want to know how to reset the check engine light. Thanks
that’s been done…

you have to use a scanner on it to reset it,disconnecting the battery cable wont work on the newer ones on anything made after 1996 you have to use a scan tool to do this with, and if there’s a problem with something on the car the check engine light may come right back on,but get the code from it when it comes back on the scanner will also give you a code to work with so you can repair it,good luck on it.
